Peacock mosaic

Replica of a floor mosaic of the early Byzantine period (6th century AD) found in Qsar (Lybia).

Approximately 3300 tiles.

The mosaic is mounted in a sterling silver frame and back. Signed and dated.

Size: 7 x 7 cm (2 inches and 3/4 x 2 inches and 3/4).

The technique used to make this mosaic is the same of the real size ones. Each tile (tesserae) is individually cut (and shaped when needed) and glued in place. When all the tiles are glued on the base, grout is spreaded in the cracks and the excess wiped off.
